In Gig Harbor hidden in plain sight are 990 acres of forest, networked with old logging roads connected by single track trails. I live 200 feet from an entrance to those trails. On July 21 I am hosting a Free 50K trail ultra that will consist of 4 loops and an out and back to make the distance correct. The Race will start at 7:00 AM with the usual 6:00 early start option. There will be an aid station central to the course and a porta potty at the start that will move to the aid station after the start. Relay teams are welcome, as are trail dogs. There is no pavement on this course. I was hoping to beat the bridge tolls but it looks like it won’t happen so thanks in advance for helping to pay off the bridge debt. I would suggest carpooling. The trails are much better than those at Point defiance with very few ruts and are under the tree canopy so mostly shaded. I will have a barbecue available in my back yard for a potluck after the race. Anyone interested in participating should contact me at billchiro1952@yahoo.com so I can give driving directions and prepare enough finisher medals. To view the forest enter 1706 115th ST CT NW 98332 on a mapping site and use the satellite feature to see some of the larger logging roads.
