Ok, here is your Last Chance to run a marathon in 2008 and the cost is FREE (with the exception of blood, sweat and tears).  Well hopefully there will be no blood, we were speaking metaphorically.

The course is an out and back (two times) starting at Fairhaven park picnic shelter and running the trail out to Clayton Beach and back again (then out again and back again) for the full 26.2 plus maybe a little extra.    Course is subject to change if trail conditions mandate.  The bathroom at Clayton beach is usually unlocked and there are bathrooms at Fairhaven as well.  You should plan on being self-sufficient and carrying your own water and/or substance in all likelihood there will only be an aid station at the turn around.  We will have Gatorade and whatever else we can scrounge up.   FYI: We have been known to have SNOW this time of the year so plan accordingly. Keep an eye on the website for any changes to event.

As we said before the cost of this event is FREE. That means you get nothing except the satisfaction of knowing that you ran a marathon while most people are just hanging out resting up before the evenings’ festivities. Well, we may hand out horns or new year’s eve hats at the end but I guess you will just have to show up and run to find out.  Feel free to bring left over Christmas cookies/cakes and or candy if you have them to share for after the race.  YUM YUM.
Hopefully the good guys (and gals) with Skagit Runners will bring their timing clock to the event.

There is no official registration, however will be a cap of 50 participants. So you do need to email your intention to run (or any questions) to Mary at BANDG11@juno.com so you will be on the email “update” list. Or you can call Mary Latta at 360 647-5338  Please be sure you put “Last Chance Marathon” in the subject line so I know the message is not SPAM.  Include your MM# in the message if you have one.
