It was horrrrrrible How long have you been a runner and why did you start running? I started running in 1994 (3rd grade) because a PE teacher had a group of 30 girls every year train for a local womens 5K race (Freihoffers) Why did you decide to become a Maniac? Or what inspired you? I already ran a marathon and had the goal of 50 marathons… but I’m always looking for more way to push myself. Of all the races out there in this world, which one would you most like to run? Pikes Peak Marathon- Colorado! INTENSE If you could run a marathon / ultra accompanied by anyone either living or deceased, who would you choose and why? Kara Goucher… but she would get annoyed at my pace. What was you most memorable marathon and why? Vegas… the only marathon my mom and I ran together. If someone asked you to pick a race for him or her that they could run a PR at, which race would you suggest? If you like hills then Vermont City. If they like flat then Air Force Marathon in Dayton, OH. What was the furthest you’ve ever traveled for a race? I didn’t travel FOR Athens but that is the farthest one from home. Besides that, Las vegas (from NY) Do any of your non-running friends or family members thing that you’re crazy for running as much as you do? What are some of their comments to you? YES! All of them!!! Every time I run my one friend says “Now I should tell you… you’re going to start and end in the same place and waste a LOT of energy. Just so you know…” If personal obligations or finances were not an issue, how many marathons would you run in one year? 52+ (At least one a week just to see if I could do it) From what race did you receive your favorite finishers medal? Love my Mickey from Disney but ING Georgia had a really cool one that spun. Where do you keep your finisher medals? On hooks in my room but its starting to be a bit much… any suggestions on how to display them without taking over my apartment??? Do you wear your race t-shirts? What do you do with the ones you don’t wear? I wear most of the newer ones because they’re good material but the older cotton (or ugly ones) I just leave in my drawer. If you could put on a marathon anywhere in the world, where would you have it? Santorini, Greece- up and down the mountain along the black sand. So pretty! Maniac Yellow, or Maniac Black? YELLOW! What is your favorite pre race meal? Post race meal? Pre: Either whole wheat pancakes OR 1 Banana, 1 Plain bagel, 1 Gu……….. Post: FRENCH FRIES!!! What is your energy gel of choice? Sport drink of choice? GU, Aceelorade, Gatorade Which race would you never run again and why? Vegas!!! (At least the old one) Horrible course, mile markers were off… What was the most challenging race or combination of races you’ve ever done and why? I would say this spring/summer has been my most. I’ve done 5 in this spring (6 as of tomorrow) and I still have 3 more over the next 2 months. What is a typical training week like for you? How many miles do you run? Any cross training? 3 running days (usually 1 hill or speed work) and 3 days cross training/weight lifting Do you have a training partner? If so, who is it? Sort of… I run on Wednesdays with a Galloway group What kind of shoes do you train in? Do you race in a different shoe? I just got Ghosts but usually mizunos. I have racing flats but they hurt! What are your short-term running goals? 3:40 marathon by next month (Boston), 2 marathons in 1 week (This month), double digit states (By July)
What are your long-term running goals? 2 Marathons in 1 weekend (Oct, 2009) Youngest female to finish all 50 states (2012), 1 Ultra Marathon (???), Ironman (2013) Assuming you have time, what do you do for fun other than run marathons?
