As of November 8th - 3 marathons and 1 ultra

What was the first race you ever ran? (Any distance)
5k August 2008!

What was the first marathon you ever ran? What year did you run it? Did you have fun that day?
Country Music City Marathon 4/25/09 - I had fun until mile 22! By mile 24 I was talking to the dead and wondering why I was doing this!

How long have you been a runner and why did you start running?
Perhaps seriously a year and a half ago. Started running as found out I was pretty decent at it (unfortunately never learned the "jogging" portion of walk - jog - run)

Why did you decide to become a Maniac? Or what inspired you?
I have become a running addict. I needed help. But then found others who  share the same passion - and then some!

Of all the races out there in this world, which one would you most like to run?
Badwater 100 - Doubt I ever would but would that be something to share!

If you could run a marathon / ultra accompanied by anyone either living or deceased, who would you choose and why?
My father - He would have been proud (and shocked) at what I am doing now.

What was you most memorable marathon and why?
Only four in the bank so far but probably Marathon Makeover in Jackson, MS as it was fun (and kind of easy!)

If someone asked you to pick a race for him or her that they could run a PR at, which race would you suggest?
From word of mouth probably Mobile First Light

What was the furthest you’ve ever traveled for a race?
From Alabama to Baltimore, but will travel much farther in the future.

Do any of your non-running friends or family members thing that you’re crazy for running as much as you do? What are some of their comments to you?
The think I have a screw loose and going through a "stage". Try to tell them differently, but oh well! I think many still do not know what a marathon is. They ALWAYS ask how far that is.

If personal obligations or finances were not an issue, how many marathons would you run in one year?
52 - Once per week. Though wife and kids would not be happy...hence why I plan for one a month now.

From what race did you receive your favorite finishers medal?
Mercedes Half Marathon - I saw this as of course it is cool medal but inspired to go out and run a full marathon few weeks later (with probably not enough training!).

Where do you keep your finisher medals?
Cork board in my office at home.

 Do you wear your race t-shirts? What do you do with the ones you don’t wear?
I run in them if they are tech, if not then lawn mowing shirts they are.

If you could put on a marathon anywhere in the world, where would you have it?
Orange, TX - Yeah I know boring, but I would like to run one around where I grew up.

What is your favorite pre race meal? Post race meal?
Raw oatmeal with peanut butter and protein powder (and honey and cinnamon!), yum!

What is your energy gel of choice? Sport drink of choice?
Chia Seed Gel and G2 (lemon-lime)

Which race would you never run again and why?
Baltimore - did it once, little overcrowded once half-marathons started and deceptively hilly!

What was the most challenging race or combination of races you’ve ever done and why?
Two marathons in one week. Not physically just logistically with kids and wife going on "girls" trip elsewhere at same time!

What is a typical training week like for you? How many miles do you run? Any cross training?
45-50 miles and I swim 2-3 times a week (a mile each swim); also light upper body weights

Do you have a training partner? If so, who is it?

What kind of shoes do you train in? Do you race in a different shoe?
Brooks Infinite II - why did they have to discontinue these?!?

What are your short-term running goals?
One a month til next summer and perhaps qualify for Boston (lat one was 6 minutes off and was not trying!)

What are your long-term running goals?
50 in 50 States

Assuming you have time, what do you do for fun other than run marathons?
Family + Reading + Computer Stuff

Who is your favorite Super Hero? Superman, Wonder Woman, Main Maniac (with cat on head), non Maniac Beauty?
Anyone who has run a 100 mile Ultramarathon!
