(Any distance) Oh boy…5k in Hayward WI, 1995 What was the first marathon you ever ran? What year did you run it? Did you have fun that day? Grandmas Marathon 2008...It was a blast. How long have you been a runner and why did you start running? I have been a runner since I was 14...so that’s 19 years….I started to loose weight, but kept doing it because it makes me feel good. Why did you decide to become a Maniac? Or what inspired you? To be able to say I was a maniac…running is my life. Of all the races out there in this world, which one would you most like to run? London marathon…..with my son when he’s old enuf….I mean though, any marathon in the world would be great if it were with my son. If you could run a marathon / ultra accompanied by anyone either living or deceased, who would you choose and why? Living: my son…because he is everything…..deceased: my brother Jon…because we talked about it before he died. What was you most memorable marathon and why? Tuscobia 50k (Dec 2009)…Because it was crazy insane hard….I couldn’t believe I could run 31 miles thru a foot of snow…sometimes I just can’t believe that’s me….and I had rode with a runner friend of mine and he had run too and it was the first time I went to a race with another runner and it was awesome to be able to have someone to share it with, that understood… If someone asked you to pick a race for him or her that they could run a PR at, which race would you suggest? Whistlestop marathon….Iron River WI to Ashland WI….Flat as a pancake…..on dirt too…actually the elevation drops 500 feet over like18 miles…great race….a lot of people PR there. What was the furthest you’ve ever traveled for a race? As of now…3 hours….but I will be traveling 7 hours in 2 weeks….. Do any of your non-running friends or family members thing that you’re crazy for running as much as you do? What are some of their comments to you? Don’t have many friends because I run so much…the ones I do have don’t seem very interested…they just don’t understand…..my best friend listens and asks questions….my mom thinks I am nuts…she wonders how it could be “fun”, my son is proud. If personal obligations or finances were not an issue, how many marathons would you run in one year? Every weekend+ From what race did you receive your favorite finishers medal? Tuscobia 50k….it is a wooden medallion, with the race name etc, burnt into it. Where do you keep your finisher medals? They are hanging in my workout area. Do you wear your race t-shirts? What do you do with the ones you don’t wear? I wear sweatshirts and tech shirts when I run….but I try to wear every shirt a couple times at least….I give them to goodwill, but it would be fun to make a quilt outa the ones I don’t wear. If you could put on a marathon anywhere in the world, where would you have it? Maniac Yellow, or Maniac Black? No preference…maniac. What is your favorite pre race meal? Post race meal? Pre - race..pesto pasta wid chicken….Post race - junk…any kind junk I can get my hands on…. What is your energy gel of choice? Sport drink of choice? Gel - Powerbar Drink - Powerade Which race would you never run again and why? none What was the most challenging race or combination of races you’ve ever done and why? What is a typical training week like for you? How many miles do you run? Any cross training? Ah…..35 to 45 miles (I’d like to get up to 55 and 60 mph this year) I cross with pilates sometimes and upper body weights but that’s about it. Do you have a training partner? If so, who is it? No…..I am a loner What kind of shoes do you train in? Do you race in a different shoe? I am all over with shoes, I think I have had a few pair of Nike alaris and a couple pair of Nike Tri-d I think….I race in the same shoes I train in…I have esthetics from my Dr… What are your short-term running goals? To go run in this blizzard today…(dec 25th 2009) What are your long-term running goals? To do the arrowhead 135 Assuming you have time, what do you do for fun other than run marathons?
