What was the first race you ever ran? (Any distance): Seattle half Marathon
What was the first marathon you ever ran? What year did you run it? Did you have fun that day? Seattle. I ran it in 2000. No, I did not have fun! It was pouring down rain, typical Seattle weather, and very windy. My feet were so soaked that my skin was hanging off of them. Once I finally crossed the finish line crying with joy and pain, my husband had to carry me across the street because my calves cramped up so bad I couldn’t walk. I pretty much sleep the whole rest of the evening.
How long have you been a runner and why did you start running? Around 1991, high school. I started to running to let out some of my bottled up energy and have some time for myself. I found it meditating and therapeutic.
Why did you decide to become a Maniac? Or what inspired you? I needed to find a new goal. I had qualified for Boston, completed an Ironman, and finished an ultra marathon. I would see people wearing the Marathon Maniac shirts and thought I would check it out. Sure enough, it became my next goal! I have had a lot of people inspire me along the way. My running group is awesome and has always been there to plan crazy running events. Thanks Laurie Cleveland, Michael Lacombe, Brady Hubler, Kathryn Briggs, Steve Ellis, Colvin Holmes, Kurt Reidinger and Chris.
