How many marathons / ultra marathons have you run? - As of  7-7-05, 75 Road and 20 Ultra’s.

 

What was the first race you ever ran? (Any distance) – Well I had many couch years after school. When I finally got off the couch I ran the Sound to Narrows 12k in 1996.

 

What was the first marathon you ever ran? What year did you run it? Did you have fun that day? – Portland Marathon 1998, It was the hardest thing I’d ever done. I was high for weeks and couldn’t wait to run another!

 

How long have you been a runner and why did you start running? – Post school since 1995. I wanted to get back into shape and see exactly how far and how fast I could go.

 

Why did you decide to become a Maniac? Or what inspired you? – Steve Yee / Steve Yee

 

Of all the races out there in this world, which one would you most like to run? - Well right now I would say The Canadian Death Race.

 

If you could run a marathon / ultra accompanied by anyone either living or deceased, who would you choose and why? – aNnIe Thiessen because we have a blast every time we run.

 

What was you most memorable marathon and why? -  My PR in Pocatello was cool chasing down Chris W. was fun, of course I didn’t catch him but it got me a PR. Also running two 50k races in one day with aNnIe was totally EPIC.

 

If someone asked you to pick a race for him or her that they could run a PR at, which race would you suggest? -  Newport OR. Fast Fast Fast!!!

 

What was the furthest you’ve ever traveled for a race? - NY City, but I would like to travel the world and run them all.

 

Do any of your non-running friends or family members thing that you’re crazy for running as much as you do? What are some of their comments to you? – I ask my co worker every week “hey Bob guess what I’m doing this weekend” I don’t tell most what I’m up to unless I’m leaving town. Yes they think I’m nuts! But I know I’m not alone because YOUR ALL NUT’S TOO!!!

 

If personal obligations or finances were not an issue, how many marathons would you run in one year? – All of them

 

From what race did you receive your favorite finishers medal? – I liked Newport this year.

 

Where do you keep your finisher medals? – I hang my most recent medal on my mirror in my car. Eventually they end up hanging from my bookcase in my tribute to tony! RoomJ

 

 Do you wear your race t-shirts? What do you do with the ones you don’t wear? - Yes I wear them. I have piles of them in my bedroom.

 

If you could put on a marathon anywhere in the world, where would you have it? – In Tacoma, I could sleep in even longer.

What is your favorite pre race meal? Post race meal? Oatmeal is good, sometimes potatoes or banana and bagel. Post race, Burgers and Beer.

 

What is your energy gel of choice? Sport drink of choice? - GU my dentist likes it too, I buy it by the box. Gatorade.

 

Which race would you never run again and why? Hmm…. None.

 

What was the most challenging race or combination of races you’ve ever done and why? - The month of October 2004, 7 marathons and 2 ultra’s and of course QUADZILLA!!!

 

What is a typical training week like for you? How many miles do you run? Any cross training? - I train for Triathlons year round and run about 50 miles a week.

 

Do you have a training partner? If so, who is it? Yes, nobody real regular though, I run with a lot of people.

 

What kind of shoes do you train in? Do you race in a different shoe? Many different types usually what ever doesn’t work for Chris W. And of course BITE Sandals.

 

What are your short-term running goals? - Run a lot and run fast.

 

What are your long-term running goals? – To run more marathons than Steve and Chris, oh and 300 sub 3 marathonsJ

 

Assuming you have time, what do you do for fun other than run marathons? – My life is consumed with running it’s what I love.

 

What is your favorite Beatle song? – Hey Bull Dog / She came in through the bathroom window, I’m a fan yes.
