currently 8 marathons,

 

What was the first race you ever ran? (Any distance):

CC team as a high school freshman, always back of the pack.  Jingle bells run Seattle 2002 is the first that really counts.

 

What was the first marathon you ever ran?

 What year did you run it? Did you have fun that day?:  Seattle,  2003 it wasn’t fun, but a great sense of accomplishment

 

How long have you been a runner and why did you start running?:

6 years,  my doctor told me to lose weight and get more exercise or he would start treating me for diabetes.

 

Why did you decide to become a Maniac? Or what inspired you?:

Several friends are Maniacs, maniacs #111 and 130 have given me an indication of what people are capable,  #209 has shown me how much fun this can be, I would have becoming a maniac eventually, but my favorite maniac, #405 prompted me to qualify now.

 

Of all the races out there in this world, which one would you most like to run? Marathon de Medoc

 

If you could run a marathon / ultra accompanied by anyone either living or deceased, who would you choose and why?

 MM405,  I love running with 405

 

What was you most memorable marathon and why?

Boston,  because it’s Boston

 

If someone asked you to pick a race for him or her that they could run a PR at, which race would you suggest? 

California International Marathon (CIM)

 

What was the furthest you’ve ever traveled for a race?: 

left coast to right coast.

 

Do any of your non-running friends or family members think that you’re crazy for running as much as you do? What are some of their comments to you?:

My parents know I am ruining my knees.

 

If personal obligations or finances were not an issue, how many marathons would you run in one year?

Probably about 12, that’s enough travel for now.

 

From what race did you receive your favorite finishers medal?:

 Boston

 

Where do you keep your finisher medals?:

hanging on a hook on the side of a TV cabinet

 

 Do you wear your race t-shirts? What do you do with the ones you don’t wear?: train in the tech shirts,  sometimes wear the cotton ones to the gym. I need to take a trip to good will.

 

If you could put on a marathon anywhere in the world, where would you have it?  Papua New Guinea, for the novelty, and for the Scuba diving afterwards.

What is your favorite pre race meal? Post race meal?

Pasta/pizza

 

What is your energy gel of choice? Sport drink of choice?:

Gel? what ever is left over from the last race, Sport drink? orange.

 

Which race would you never run again and why?:

I haven’t found it yet.

 

What was the most challenging race or combination of races you’ve ever done and why?

Seattle, my first.

 

What is a typical training week like for you? How many miles do you run? Any cross training? 

One total rest day a week, run 5 or 6 days, cycle, elliptical, weights at the gym I try to run about 50 miles per week,  I work 7, 12 hour shifts on and 7 off alternating working days and nights.  sometimes work gets in the way, but I try not to let it.

 

Do you have a training partner? If so, who is it?

I mostly train solo, occasionally I go for a run with my speedy neighbor

 

What kind of shoes do you train in? Do you race in a different shoe?

Currently Brooks Adrenaline

 

What are your short-term running goals?

Stay injury free

 

What are your long-term running goals?

Run lots of marathons while staying injury free

 

Assuming you have time, what do you do for fun other than run marathons?

Cycle, Scuba, sample single malt scotch.

 

Who is your favorite Super Hero? Superman, Wonder Woman, Main Maniac (with cat on head)

Aquaman, or maybe Mike Nelson from Sea Hunt
