What was the first race you ever ran? (Any distance)
The Philadelphia Zoo 10-K. I think I was 14.
What was the first marathon you ever ran? What year did you run it? Did you have fun that day?
It was the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, OH. 2007. It was a blast.
How long have you been a runner and why did you start running?
I started running July 4th, 2006 because it was a way to get exercise by simply walking out my front door. I knew I could do it anytime and anywhere and I could do it alone if I had to.
Why did you decide to become a Maniac? Or what inspired you?
The feeling of accomplishment one gets when crossing the finish line is something I want to experience over and over again.
Of all the races out there in this world, which one would you most like to run?
The Boston Marathon – hopefully someday I will.
If you could run a marathon / ultra accompanied by anyone either living or deceased, who would you choose and why?
Dick and Rick Hoyt. The two of them truly inspire me.
What was you most memorable marathon and why?
It would have to be my last one – the Philadelphia Marathon. It’s my hometown race and this year so many of my friends and family were there. The entire weekend was memorable.
If someone asked you to pick a race for him or her that they could run a PR at, which race would you suggest?
The Steamtown Marathon.
What was the furthest you’ve ever traveled for a race?
From my home in Philadelphia to Cincinnati, OH.
Do any of your non-running friends or family members thing that you’re crazy for running as much as you do? What are some of their comments to you?
Most of my family thinks I’m nuts. The most often asked question is “why?” Or “Are you sure?”
If personal obligations or finances were not an issue, how many marathons would you run in one year?

From what race did you receive your favorite finishers medal?
It would have to be the medal from the Flying Pig Marathon because it was my first.
Where do you keep your finisher medals?
They are all proudly on display in my office – for now.
Do you wear your race t-shirts? What do you do with the ones you don’t wear?
Some I wear some I don’t. Some are turned into rags others go into a box. I’m saving most of them so I can have them turned into a big quilt.
If you could put on a marathon anywhere in the world, where would you have it?
Florence Italy.

What is your favorite pre race meal? Post race meal?
So far pre-race it’s always just pasts. Post race it’s got to be a cheesesteak from “Jim’s” on South Street in Philadelphia. With Whiz of course. Gotta go with the Whiz.
What is your energy gel of choice? Sport drink of choice?
GU – Chocolate, Espresso or Vanilla. Gatorade.
Which race would you never run again and why?
Haven’t run one yet that I wouldn’t run again. I’ve ran some tough ones but nothing so bad that I don’t think I’d survive it a second time.
What was the most challenging race or combination of races you’ve ever done and why?
The NYC Marathon. I didn’t realize how tough of a course it was with the hills in the second half.
What is a typical training week like for you? How many miles do you run? Any cross training?
Right now I average 45-55 miles per week. I do use an Elliptical Machine as well.
Do you have a training partner? If so, who is it?
For my last race I trained with a neighbor. It was much better to do long runs with someone else. I hope to continue doing so.
What kind of shoes do you train in? Do you race in a different shoe?
Right now Mizuno Wave Nirvana or Brooks Trance.
What are your short-term running goals?
To stay injury free and keep on enjoying what I am doing.
What are your long-term running goals?
BQ.
Assuming you have time, what do you do for fun other than run marathons?
Keep up with my three lovely daughters, cook, read, play golf, hike, fish and I just became a volunteer firefighter.
Who is your favorite Super Hero? Superman, Wonder Woman, Main Maniac (with cat on head)
