RUN HISTORY:
In February 2006, the Lord Hill Run was cancelled due to bad weather, and this run was started as a replacement. It was again held in 2007. Lord Hill is making a return this year (hooray!), so this run has been changed to this date.

COURSE:
This is a 9.6-mile loop around the Lake Youngs Watershed. The terrain is rolling and a mixture of packed gravel, trail, and a short section of road. The trail hugs the fence that goes around the watershed, so getting lost it not really a problem. However, I will mark the turns that might cause some confusion with flour. Just know that if you cross a road while running around the watershed, then you have run off course.

DISTANCES:
9.6 miles: one loop
19.2 miles: two loops
50K: three loops and a 2.2-mile out and back (out 1.1 miles and then back)

This year, there will be no three-loop option. The out and back part will occur in the end (sorry). But this will be better because the field will be spread out more in the end and should allow for an exciting finish like last year in the men’s race. The race will be run counter-clockwise for every loop. You will see the 50K turn around as you do every loop, but ignore it until you have completed three loops. Then you will head out and do the out and back, which will require you to run up that big hill, but only once for the race. There are mile markers on the fence that hugs the watershed, but my experience is that they are a little inaccurate, so don’t depend on them too much. I will not be placing mile markers on the course.

Drop bags can be placed at the start area at the beginning of each loop. A tarp will be placed on the grass. Please use only water-resistant bags/containers. No paper bags!

ENTRY:
E-mail me if you are planning on coming and the distance that you plan on running. Please include your name, gender, age, city and state, and the distance you are running (one loop, two loops, or 50K) at pigtails@earthlink.net

FEE:
Two cans of chicken noodle soup (one for you to consume post-race and one to be donated to the Maple Valley Food Bank).

Otherwise, the race is free. A small donation would be appreciated to cover the cost of supplies.

AID STATIONS:
There will be only one aid station on the course, and that is at the start of each loop. There will be water, Gatorade, hot soup and a few other things that you might find at a typical ultra (potato chips, pretzels, candy, and PB & J sandwiches). Please bring most of your own gel, shot bloks, or other fuel of choice.

BATHROOMS:
The bathrooms at the start are closed during the winter. Unlike last year, no Honey bucket will be available. So stop by a McDonalds or gas station on the way. No bathrooms other than the woods are available on the course.

AWARDS:
First female and male for open and masters will receive sausage links or bacon from our homegrown pigs.

POST-RACE:
There will be the hot soup at the finish, courtesy of you. If you think of it, you can bring another small item to share.

DIRECTIONS AND PARKING:
Take exit 4 off of I-405 to Maple Valley/Black Diamond/Enumclaw Hwy 169.
Drive east several miles and take a right on 140th Way SE.
Go up the hill and in about 2 miles, turn left on SE Petrovitsky Road.
In about another 2 miles, turn right on Old Petrovitsky road.
The parking lot is on the left in about a hundred yards.

From Highway 18, take the Maple Valley exit. Coming from Tacoma, take a left at end of off ramp, cross over Hwy 18, and take right on SE Petrovitsky Rd. Coming from Issaquah, take a right at end of off ramp and an immediate right on SE Petrovitsky Rd. After 3+ miles, left on Old Petrovitsky Rd. The parking lot is on the left.
